Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 2026
1. Our Privacy Philosophy
At BlurTab, your privacy is our core mission—not an afterthought. Our browser extension is designed to protect your sensitive data while you screen share, record, or stream. To uphold this mission, we have built BlurTab with a 100% local processing architecture. We do not collect, read, or transmit your Personally Identifiable Information (PII) or the content of the websites you visit.
2. Data We Do Not Collect
- Website Content: The text, images, and HTML of the sites you browse are never sent to our servers.
- Personally Identifiable Information (PII): Our Smart PII Scanner detects emails, phone numbers, SSNs, and credit cards entirely locally within your browser.
- Web History: We do not track or log the websites you visit.
- Keystrokes: We do not log what you type.
3. Data We Do Collect
To provide our service and enforce subscription limits, we collect the minimum required data:
- Account Information: Your email address, used exclusively for account creation and authentication via Supabase.
- Device Registration: A generated anonymous Device ID and basic browser name (e.g., "Chrome") to enforce the active device limits associated with your subscription tier.
- Billing Data: Processed entirely by our merchant of record, Lemon Squeezy. We do not store or process your credit card information directly.
4. Browser Extension Permissions
The BlurTab extension requests specific permissions to function correctly. Here is exactly why we need them:
- activeTab: To allow you to manually select and blur elements on your current page.
- Host permissions (https://*/*): To inject local privacy filters on any website you visit and to sync your subscription status from our secure domain.
- scripting: To inject our local DOM manipulation scripts that apply the blur overlays.
- storage: To save your custom blur rules and preferences locally on your device.
- tabs: To detect when you navigate to video conferencing URLs (like Google Meet or Zoom) to automatically activate Meeting Mode.
5. GDPR & CCPA Compliance
BlurTab complies with GDPR and CCPA regulations. Because our extension processes sensitive data locally, the risk of data breaches involving your browsing content is eliminated. You have the right to request the deletion of your account and billing history at any time by contacting us.
6. Contact Us
